1.Shutofftheengine,settheparkingbrake,removethe
key,andwaitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleaving
theoperatingposition.
2.Cleanaroundtheaircleanertopreventdirtfrom
gettingintotheengineandcausingdamage(Figure58).

1.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,ordamaged
(Figure58).
Important:Replacethefoamelementifitisworn
ordamaged.
2.Washthefoamelementinliquidsoapandwarmwater.
Whentheelementisclean,rinseitthoroughly.
3.Drytheelementbysqueezingitinacleancloth.
4.Airdrythefoam-lterelement.

Important:Topreventenginedamage,alwaysoperate
theenginewiththecompletefoamandpaperair-cleaner
assemblyinstalled.
1.Carefullyslidethefoam-lterelementontothe
paper-lterelement(Figure58).
2.Aligntheholeinthetopplateofthepaper-lter
elementwiththehold-downrodofthecarburetor
(Figure58).
3.Securethelterelementstothecarburetorwiththe
wingnut(Figure58)thatyouremovedinstep4of
RemovingtheFoamandPaperElements(page50).
4.Aligntheholeintheair-cleanercoverwiththe
hold-downrod(Figure58)andsecurethecovertothe
rodwiththewingnutthatyouremovedinstep3of
RemovingtheFoamandPaperElements(page50).
