1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotion-control
leverstotheNEUTRAL-LOCKEDposition,andset
theparkingbrake.
2.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,
stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitfor
allmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Placealargepanunderthehydraulicreservoir
andtransmissioncaseandremovetheplugs,
drainingallofthehydraulicuid(Figure91).

Ifyouraisethemachineusingonlyajackto
supportitwhileyouworkunderthemower
deck,thejackcouldtip,causingthemower
decktofall,crushingyouorbystanders.
Alwayssecurethemachinewithatleast2
jackstandswhenyouraisethemowerdeck.
CAUTION
Onthetopofthemowerdeckare2linksthat
connectthemtotheframe.Connectedto
theselinksaretorsionspringthatareunder
tension(Figure92).Ifyoudisconnectthe
link,thestoredenergyinthetorsionspring
releasesandcouldcausethelinkstomove,
damagingyourhandsorngers.
Carefullyremovethemowerdeckfrom
theframeandsecurethelinksbefore
disconnectingthemfromtheframe.
