PreparingtheEngineand
Battery
1.Forstorageover30days,preparethefuel
systemasfollows:
A.Addapetroleumbased
stabilizer/conditionertofuelinthe
tank.
Followmixinginstructionsfromstabilizer
manufacturer.Donotuseanalcoholbased
stabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshgasoline
andusedatalltimes.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Shutofftheengine,allowittocool,and
drainthefueltank.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Choketheengine.
F.Startandruntheengineuntilitdoesnot
startagain.
G.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasper
localcodes.
Important:Donotstore
stabilizer/conditionedfuelover90
days.
2.Removethesparkplugsandchecktheir
condition;refertoRemovingtheSparkPlugs
(page49).
3.Withthesparkplugsremovedfromtheengine,
pour2tablespoonsofengineoilintothespark
plughole.
4.Usetheelectricstartertocranktheengineand
distributetheoilinsidethecylinder.
5.Installthesparkplugsandtightento
recommendedtorque;refertoInstallingthe
SparkPlugs(page49).
Note:Donotinstallthewireonthespark
plug(s).
6.Removethebatteryfromthechassis,check
theelectrolytelevel,andchargeitfully;referto
RemovingtheBattery(page51).
Note:Donotconnectthebatterycablestothe
batterypostsduringstorage.
Important:Thebatterymustbefully
chargedtopreventitfromfreezingandbeing
damagedattemperaturesbelow0°C(32°F).
Afullychargedbatterymaintainsitscharge
forabout50daysattemperatureslower
than4°C(40°F).Ifthetemperatureswillbe
above4°C(40°F),checkthewaterlevelinthe
batteryandchargeitevery30days.
PreparingtheMachine
1.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatisdamaged.
2.Checktheconditionofallsprayhoses,replacing
anythataredamagedorworn.
3.Tightenallhosettings.
4.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paint
isavailablefromyourauthorizedTorodistributor.
5.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.
6.Removetheignitionkeyandputitinasafe
placeoutofthereachofchildren.
7.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
