5.Useanappropriateliftingdevice,raisethemachineofftheoortoremove
thecuttingblade.
6.Removethecuttingbladefromthemachine.
7.Removethe6self-tappingboltsthatsecurethespindletothedeck.
8.Pullthespindleassemblydownward,throughthedeckandawayfromthe
machine.
SpindleDisassembly
1.Clampthespindleforservicebyplacingthespindleshaftinavise.
2.Removethenutandwasherfromthetopofthepulley.
3.Removethepulley.
4.Removethespindlehousingfromtheshaft.
5.Removethebearingshield.
6.Removethebearingandthebearingspacerfromthetopofthespindle
housing.
7.Flipoverthespindlehousingandremovethelowerbearing.
8.Inspecttheinsideofthespindlehousingforwearordamage.
SpindleAssembly
1.Inspecttheinsideofthespindlehousingforwearordamage.
2.Pressthetopbearingintothespindlehousingbypressingequallyonthe
innerandouterrace.
Note:Ensurethatthebearingseatsagainsttheshoulderinthespindle
housing.
3.Flipthespindlehousingoverandinstallthebearingspacer.
4.Pressthelowerbearingintothespindlehousingbypressingequallyonthe
innerandouterrace.
Note:Theinnerandouterraceontheupperbearingmustbesupported
whileinstallingthelowerbearing.
5.Applyanti-seizetothespindleshaftandinstallthespindleshaft.
6.Flipthespindleoverwhilesupportingtheshaftthroughthespindlehousing.
7.Installthebearingshield.
8.Installthepulley.
9.Installthewasherandnut.Torquethetopnutto138–152N•m(100–110
ft-lb).
SpindleInstallation
1.Positionthespindleagainstthedeckandalignthemountingholes.
Note:Ensurethattheundersideofthedeckiscleanbeforeproceeding
withthespindleinstallation.
2.Installthe6spindlemountingbolts.T orqueto17±3N•m(150±25in-lb).
Note:Spindlemountingscrewsarethreadforming.Donotreusethespindle
mountingscrews.
