For loads other than 1 Amp, use PwrIn = PwrOut/efficiency to calculate your input power wiring
requirements. Above table include an extra PWR/GND pair for redundancy. The Orion External
Power Regulator efficiency has been tested to be approx. 92%.
Power_Enable Pin
The Power_Enable pin has an internal pull-up resistor to the VIN power rail and a 3.3V Zener diode,
limiting the upper value applied to the Power IC inside the brick. The regulator is ON by default. To
turn the regulator off, it is best to drive the Power_Enble input with an Open Drain output IC. Do
not pull the IC’s OD output to any power rail in your design. It is pulled high inside the external
regulator. The Power_Enable input may also be driven with a 3.3V 5V push-pull or totem pole
output IC:
Open, Tri-state or 3.3V: RUN (Power Enable)
GND: OFF (Power Down)
9.1.3 Un-sealed Electrical Interface
Input Power
The input power connector is a JST SH series 13-pin connector, with 1Amp continuous current
capability per pin. The 12” unterminated development harness (PN 90-0671) is made with 28AWG
wire.

The 24VDC output connector is a JST SH series 4-pin connector, with 1Amp continuous current
capability per pin. The 12” unterminated development harness (PN 90-0671) is made with 28AWG
wire, providing up to 2 continuous Amps total (48W) of output power at 24VDC, +/- 0.3V.
