Setting up the Media
player.
We recommend that you use
a media player that can be set
to have its output in Kernel-
streaming mode.
Do not use Windows Media
Player. Windows Media
Player does not support
Kernel Streaming.
The output of the media-
player has to be set to Kernel
streaming and Vitus Audio
Interface.
Always close the media-
player program before
connecting or disconnecting
the MP-D201 to the
computer.
In chapter 7 we will show how
to set up Foobar2000 a free
mediaplayer.
Kernel Streaming
Kernel Streaming or Direct
Kernel streaming (Direct KS)
is a technique that supports
kernel-mode processing of
streamed data. It enables
efficient real-time streaming
for multimedia devices such
as sound cards and TV tuner
cards. Kernel streaming allows
a device driver to create Direct
Show-like filters and pins in
kernel mode, providing access
to hardware, lower latency
communication and still be
used within a DirectShow filter
graph.
