Table 3 - TIP Option Descriptions
Parameter Description
Baggage Proportion
If TIP is on, this parameter is mandatory. It controls the
number of TIP images displayed for a given number of bags
scanned. For example, 100 means that 1 bag out of 100 will
have a TIP image. The TIP image will appear randomly in any
of the 100 bags.
Diversification Range
Sets a variation in the
Baggage Proportion
. It prevents
operators from predicting the next TIP occurrence. If
Baggage Proportion
is 100 and
Diversification Range
is
30%, then a TIP image will be inserted in an interval of 70 to
130 bags (instead of 100).
Random Proportion
A random number generator is used with the set percentage
of occurrence. If set to 40%, then each individual bag has a
40% chance of containing a threat.
Initial decision period time
The TIP image is visible for as long as the actual baggage scan.
For example, depending on the conveyor speed, when the
scan appears on the monitor, the operator has 4 to 5 seconds
to react and stop the conveyor belt.
Threat decision period time
If the operator has stopped the image, this parameter
provides a second deadline to analyze the image. By default,
this is 10 and can be modified if needed.
Image Type selection
Sets the percentage of each type of TIP image to be displayed,
e.g. 50% of guns, 30% of knives and 20% of IED. The total
percentage of all types must equal 100.
Diversification Range is not usually used when Random Proportion is used, but they can be used together. For
example:
