9.16 Rocker Cover and Spark Plug

Note: Replace the gasket with a new one each time the rocker cover
is removed.
9.16.1 Using four M6 x 12 bolts (a), secure the rocker cover (b) and gasket
(c) to the cylinder head. Torque the bolts to 5.0–7.0 Nm (3.6–5.1
ft.lbs.).
9.16.2 Remove any carbon deposits from the spark plug (d) and inspect the
electrode for damage. Replace the spark plug if necessary. Use NGK
BR-6HS or Champion RL86C.
Electrode gap: 0.6–0.7 mm (0.23–0.27 in.).
Spark Plug Torque:
New plug: 12.0–15.0 Nm (8.7–10.8 ft.lbs.)
Reused plug: 23.0–27.0 Nm (16.6–19.5 ft.lbs.)
