Symptom: Engine cranks, but will not start (engine stop lanyard switch is operating nor-
mally).
• Check the ignition system.
• Check the fuel system.
• Check the compression pressure of the power unit.
Check the condition of the spark
plugs.

• Do not touch any of the connections of
the ignition tester leads.
• Do not let sparks leak out of the
removed spark plug caps.
• Keep flammable gas or liquids away,
since this test can produce sparks.

Check the ignition coil resis-

Check the spark plug wire resis-
tance and check the spark plug
cap for corrosion or rust. (8-7)
Good condition?
Check the ECM output peak
voltage. (8-8)
