4.5 Electric System
Diesel Engine
Electrical Resistance Test
(a)
Disconnect unit from electrical supplies.
(b)
Open unit door and remove engine side cover.
(c)
Remove rocker cover assembly unscrewing 9
bolts.
(d)
Disconnect glow plug from engine harness.
(e)
Connect multi-meter black lead to a good ground
point
.
(f)
Test multi-meter resistance grounding another
point with the other lead. Resistance s

Test glow plugs for resistance connecting red lead
to plug head. Resistance should in be around
characteristic resistance subt
racting just test

multi-meter value.

Any glow plug with an higher
resistanc
e or just different from the others is to replace.
(h)
If a glow plug is faulty, replace all of them.
