Configuring a Static Router Port
In a network where the topology is unlikely to change, you can configure a port on the switch as a static
router port, so that the switch has a static connection to a multicast router and receives IGMP messages
from that router.
In Ethernet port view
Follow these steps to configure a static router port in Ethernet port view:
To do... Use the command... Remarks
Enter system view
system-view
Enter Ethernet port view
interface interface-type
interface-number
Configure the current port as a

Disabling a Port from Becoming a Router Port
A MAC-forced forwarding (MFF) network isolates hosts at Layer 2 and allows multicast packets to pass
through user ports. However, the following case may occur:
If host A joins a multicast group, it sends IGMP membership reports, and then the switch connected to it
forwards the messages out every router port. If the user port on the switch connecting to host B
becomes a router port, host B may receive the IGMP membership report, and thus obtain other
information of host A from the message.
To avoid this, you can disable a port of the Switch 5500-EI series switches from becoming a router port
so that this port will not forward IGMP membership report messages.
Follow these steps to disable a port from becoming a router port:
To do... Use the command... Remarks
Enter system view
system-view
Enter Ethernet port view
interface interface-type
interface-number
Disable the port from

igmp-snooping query-pkt-deny
Required
Not disabled by default.
