3.3 Interfacing to the fi eldbus
3.3.1 Addressing
To enable control of a motor by sending data to and receiving from a control system, the UMC22 is provi-
ded with a fi eldbus neutral interface.
The fi eldbus protocol is defi ned by selecting the appropriate FieldBusPlug type (PROFIBUS DP, Device-
Net, MODBUS, ...).
Consult e.g. the document „PDP21, PDP22 (PROFIBUS), Docu …..“.
A slave address must be given to the FieldBusPlug in order to communicate with a bus master of the
control system. The adjustment of the slave address is possible for all fi eldbuses.
Normally the slave address is set by the Control Panel, that means the slave address is directly adjusted
and stored in the UMC22.
Immediately when mounted or when the combination is switched on, the address is monitored. The
address can be changed by menu point Change address (8.2.2 and 4.3.4).
An other way to adjust the address in the FieldBusPlug is to use the „Addressing Set“ CAS21-FBP.0
(Interface unit + PC with addressing SW). See appropiate description.

A---:
The UMC22 does not contain a valid address.
(A000 is a valid address but could be reserved
depending on the type of fieldbus.)
The status A--- can be restored setting A999.
The slave does not start on the bus without
a valid address.
A025:
The UMC22
address is 025.
