90 Using the High-Speed Counter and Programmable Limit Switch
High-Speed Counter
(HSC) Function File
Within the RSLogix 500 Function File Folder, you see a HSC Function File.
This file provides access to HSC configuration data, and also allows the
control program access to all information pertaining to the High-Speed
Counter.
The HSC function, along with the PTO and PWM instructions, are different
than most other controller instructions. Their operation is performed by
custom circuitry that runs in parallel with the main system processor. This
is necessary because of the high performance requirements of these
functions.
TIP
If the controller is in the run mode, the data within
sub-element fields may be changing.
