Cell Replacement
Disconnect power from the sensor and control unit and allow the sen-
sor to cool before replacing parts inside the sensor
To replace the cell (see Figure 7-1 and Figure 7-2 for help):
1. Remove the two bolts, flat washers and lockwashers (see Figure 7-2).
Keep this hardware for when you reinstall the furnace over the cell.
2. Lift the furnace off of the furnace base. (You can leave the furnace and
thermocouple wires connected to the sensor board.) This exposes the
cell assembly.
3. Remove the cell clip from the cell.
4. Remove the two ceramic washers. Save these washers for installation
of the new cell.
5. Unscrew and remove the cell O-ring fitting, then remove the ferrule.
6. Remove and discard the old cell. Leave the white inlet tube in place. If
accidentally removed, re-seat the white inlet tube back into the O-ring
body.
7. Retrieve the new cell and cell O-ring.
8. Place cell O-ring over the cell so it touches anywhere on the white
band of the cell.
9. Place the cell over the inlet tube so the opening in the cell fingers (see
Figure 7-1) faces the back of the sensor.
10. Place the ferrule over the cell (see Figure 7-1 for correct orientation of
ferrule). Then place the O-ring fitting over the cell and tighten into
the O-ring body.
11. Place a ceramic washer on each side of the cell clip (2 of them).
12. Carefully place the cell clip over the cell so it touches the outside ce-
ramic washer. (The cell clip must not touch the furnace.)
13. Place the furnace on the furnace base aligning the bolts with the holes
in the furnace base (thermocouple should be on your right as you face
the front of the sensor).
14. Reverse the actions taken in step 1.
