Instruction Manual – DXLink™ Twisted Pair Transmitters/Receiver
Appendix A – Upgrading the Firmware
Overview
The NetLinx Studio software application (available for free download from www.amx.com) provides
the ability to transfer KIT files to NetLinx devices such as DXLink Transmitters and Receivers. The
firmware on the Transmitters and Receiver can be upgraded in the field.
Endpoint System (with a Switcher)
When a Transmitter and/or a Receiver are being used in conjunction with a switcher as an endpoint
system, the switcher’s integrated Master is used for the KIT file transfer. FIG. 40 shows a Transmitter
and a Receiver bound to the integrated Master in an Enova DGX 32 in NetLinx Studio’s OnLine Tree.
Follow the instructions on the top of page 106 to prepare an endpoint system for KIT file transfer and the
instructions on page 109 for the actual transfer.
Extender System (Standalone)
When a standalone Transmitter and Receiver Module pair are being used as an extender system, the KIT
file transfer can be done one of two ways:
The module can be bound to any Master on the network and then unbound when the file
transfer procedure is complete.
If a Master is not present on the network, a Virtual NetLinx Master can be set up using a PC
(see page 121).
Follow the instructions on the bottom of page 106 to prepare an extender system for KIT file transfer and
the instructions on page 109 for the actual transfer.
