2.8 Safety at the machine installation site
Adequate lighting must be provided (industrial lighting).
The foundations must be sized to withstand the loads caused by the
medium-consistency pump. The customer will be provided with a load
plan.
The area around machine and marked escapes are to be kept clear. The
area around machine must be marked as danger zone.
Make sure machine and surrounding area are kept clean. In particular, oil
and grease on the floor and on machine elements may cause slipping.
Thus, they present a considerable risk of injuries, particularly in
combination with tools.
The floor around the medium-consistency pump must be provided with a
non-slip finish.
In order to prevent any falls from or damage to the machine, it is forbidden
to climb onto machine elements or on the machine (except for the
treading areas provided). Use ladders or similar equipment in accordance
with recognised standards.
Ramps, platforms and lifts must be used to avoid injury or excessive
physical effort.
2.9 Temperature
If stock temperature exceeds 80°C the operator must take the necessary
steps as isolation, distance protection and exclusion zone as well as all
essential safety measures (e.g. protection for hands, training of operating
staff, etc.).
Furthermore the warning sign "Hot surface" mounted at the pump advices
against burn hazards.
Maintenance is not allowed to be started before the surface is cooled off.
2.10 Noise
The total noise emissions from all machines in the production room can
restrict spoken communication and impair hearing.
The machine is designed such that no operator is required in the
immediate vicinity of the machine during normal operation. Appropriate
hearing protection should be worn throughout maintenance and adjusting
work while the machine is running.
