Shaft seal and
sealing water
Ensuring a proper shaft seal run, clean water with sufficient flow and
pressure has to be provided. For specification of the sealing water please
see:

5.4 Start-Up
Starting the
medium-consisten

If all preliminary requirements (see Chapter 5.3) have been met, the pump
can then be started up according to the following table:
If the pump is kept in storage for a longer period before being put into
operation, dirt and water may enter the pump in the meantime. If there are
substantial fluctuations in temperature, there may be some condensation.
If the pump is not in operation more than 6 months the oil has to be
changed.
CAUTION
Machine may be damaged if incorrect start-up procedures are used.
All electric interlocks must be functional and checked.
Prerequisites
1 Check sealing water flow and adjust (4 and 6 l/min. resp.)
2 Check pressure water flow and adjust (6 bar)
3 Stand pipe and pump casing must be filled with the medium.
4 Check interlocks.
5 Start pump (see Section START-UP)
6 Check bearing temperature in continuous operation. (after
approx. 2 hrs)

DANGER
.. if the pump is run dry!
This can result in risks to life and limb and in damage to the
machine.
The pump should never be allowed to run dry under any
circumstances, not even briefly.
