4.4 Storage
Short-term storage If the pump is to be stored for less than three months before erection work
begins, please observe the following storage instructions.
• Store the medium-consistency pump in a dry place, with suitable
protection against dirt and corrosion.
• Packing should not be removed until field installation work begins.
• If there is no oil in the bearing housing, it must be filled with oil to
protect the bearing assembly against corrosion.
• Rotate the pump shaft manually every two weeks to prevent damage
to the shaft bearing assembly.
Long-term storage If the pump is to be stored for more than three months before erection
work begins, please observe the following storage instructions.
• Store the medium-consistency pump in a dry place, with suitable
protection against dirt and corrosion.
• Incidentals should be protected against damage and unauthorized
withdrawal by storing in a lockable room.
• Empty all liquids (water and residual pulp) out of the
medium-consistency pump.
• Rotate the pump shaft manually every two weeks to prevent damage
to the shaft bearing assembly.
• If there is no oil in the bearing housing, it must be filled with oil to
protect the bearing assembly against corrosion.
CAUTION
Fresh oil must be filled into the bearing housing if the pump has
been in storage for some time before start-up.
Anti-rust agents must be removed entirely.
