2-11 Test Panel Connectors Chapter 2 — Instrument Overview
2-16 PN: 10580-00175 Rev. N MS272xB + MS8911B UG
Digital Signal Output (DVB ASI Out) Connector
The digital signal output, BNC female connector is unique to the MS8911B and MS2721B
and is present only when both DVB-T/H (Option MS2721B-0064 or Option MS8911B-0050)
and DVB-T/H BER (Option 57) are installed. The Digital Television Signal Analyzer options
are not available on models MS2723B and MS2724B. For Digital Television Signal Analyzer
options operation, refer to the Digital Television Signal Analyzer Measurement Guide,
Anritsu (listed in Appendix A).
To prevent damage to your instrument, do not use pliers or a wrench to tighten the BNC
connector. Do not overtighten the connector.
The DVB-ASI function produces MPEG-TS data output during a BER measurement. This
output can be connected to MPEG-TS analysis equipment to monitor video errors or can be
connected via an appropriate ASI to USB demultiplexing and decoding accessories for
channel identification and monitoring purposes.
IF Out 37.8 MHz
BNC connector for Zero Span IF Output. This connector is unique to the MS2723B and
MS2724B.
To prevent damage to your instrument, do not use pliers or a wrench to tighten the BNC
connector. Do not overtighten the connector.
External Power
The external power connector is used to power the unit and for battery charging. Input is
12 VDC to 15 VDC at up to 5.0 A. A green flashing indicator light near the power switch
shows that the instrument battery is being charged by the external charging unit. The
indicator is steadily illuminated when the battery is fully charged.
LAN Connection
The RJ-45 connector is used to connect the Spectrum Master to a local area network.
Integrated into this connector are two LEDs. The amber LED shows the presence of a
10 Mbit/s LAN connection when on, and a 100 Mbit/s LAN connection when off. The green
LED flashes to show that LAN traffic is present. For additional information about the LAN
connection, Ethernet connection, and DHCP, refer to Appendix C, “Ethernet Configuration”.
Note
You can monitor this port to verify that you are connected to the correct input
channel.
Warning
When using the AC-DC Adapter, always use a three-wire power cable that is
connected to a three-wire power line outlet. If power is supplied without grounding
the equipment in this manner, then the user is at risk of receiving a severe or fatal
electric shock.
