2-6 Resolution Bandwidth Accuracy Verification Chapter 2 — Spectrum Analyzer Verification

Procedure
1. Connect the external 10 MHz Reference both to the MG3692x or MG3695C Synthesized Signal Generator
and to the Spectrum Master MS272xC, as shown in Figure 2-1.
2. Set the MS272xC to Spectrum Analyzer mode and then Preset the instrument. Press the Shift key, the
Sweep (3) key, Sweep Mode submenu key and then the Performance submenu key.
3. Set the MS272xC as follows:
Center Frequency: 1.0 GHz
Reference Level: –10 dBm
Atten Lvl: 0dB
4. Set the MG3692x or MG3695C to 1GHzCW, with an output level of –30 dBm. Apply the signal to the
Spectrum Analyzer RF In connector of the MS272xC.
5. On the MS272xC, set the Span to 20 MHz.
6. Press the BW main menu key and set the RBW to 10 MHz.
7. Press the VBW submenu key set to 1MHz.
8. Under the Measure menu, press (Shift (4), press OCC BW and set it to On.
9. Press the dBc submenu key and enter 3.
10. Record the occupied bandwidth in Table A-8, “Spectrum Analyzer Resolution Bandwidth Accuracy”
on page A-4 and verify that it is within specification.
11. Repeat Step 5 through Step 10 for all other settings in Table A-8 and record the occupied bandwidth in
Table A-8.
