8PSK Modulation Channel Power, Frequency Error, Rho, and Tau Tests
Test Procedure
1. On the MG3700A, press the Preset key (Yellow key on the upper-left corner).
2. Press the Down Arrow key or turn the knob to select Yes.
3. Press the Set key (Note that two Set keys are available, and they both do the same thing).

11. Press the MOD On/Off key to turn the Modulation LED On, and verify that the “Playing” indicator in the
center of the LCD is flashing.
12. Press the Frequency key, and enter 870.03 MHz.
13. Press the Level key, enter –30, and press the dBm key.
14. Adjust the MG3700A output so that the power meter reads –50 dBm ± 0.2 dB, and record the actual
value as shown on the power meter into Table A-104, “Option 62, At 870.03 MHz, –50 dBm Level,
921.6 kps 8PSK Modulation” on page A-47.
15. On the MS272xC, press the Freq main menu key, and enter 870.03 MHz as Center Freq.
16. Press the Measurements main menu key, and press EVDO Summary (a red dot is displayed on the label).
17. Press the Setup main menu key and press PN Setup. Then change PN Trigger to Ext by pressing the
PN Trigger submenu key twice. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the MS272xC to update its measured
results.
18. Record the “MS272xC Reading”, the displayed Channel Power value, into Table A-104.
19. For MS272xC with Option 62 (EVDO RF Measurements), subtract the “MS272xC Reading” of displayed
Channel Power value from the “Power Meter Reading” in Step 14. Then record the “Calculated Channel
Power Error” into Table A-104.
20. For MS272xC with Option 63 (EVDO Demodulator), record the displayed Freq Error, Rho Pilot and Tau
into Table A-109, “Option 63, At 870.03 MHz, –50 dBm Level, 921.6 kps 8PSK Modulation”
on page A-48.
21. Verify that the measured values in Step 19 and Step 20 are within specifications.
