Chapter 3 — Options Verification 3-3 Option 40 and/or 41, GSM/GPRS/EDGE Signal Analyzer Verification
MS272xC MM PN: 10580-00279 Rev. E 3-7
21. Adjust the Level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –50 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-66, “Option 40, At 850 MHz, –50 dBm
Level, TCH All Pattern (GSM)” on page A-35. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the MS272xC to update its
measured results.
22. For MS272xC with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), record the measured value into the
“Displayed Burst Power” row of Table A-66, then subtract the “Displayed Burst Power” value from the
“Adjusted Output Power” reading that was obtained in Step 21. Then record the “Calculated Burst
Power Error” and the displayed value of “Frequency Error” into Table A-66.
23. For MS272xC with Option 41 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Demodulator), record the displayed Phase Err RMS
(deg) into Table A-74, “Option 41, At 850 MHz, –50 dBm Level, TCH ALL Pattern (GSM)” on page A-38.
24. Verify that the measured values in Step 22 and Step 23 are within specifications.
25. Change the frequency of MG3700A to 1800 MHz.
26. On the power meter, press the Sensor key, the Cal Factor submenu key, and then the Freq submenu. Use
the keypad to enter 1800 MHz as the input signal frequency, which sets the power meter to the proper
power sensor calibration factor. Press the System key to display the power reading.
27. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –10 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-67, “Option 40, At 1800 MHz, –10 dBm
Level, TCH ALL Pattern (GSM)” on page A-36.
28. On the MS272xC, set the Center Freq to 1800 MHz. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the MS272xC to update
its measured results.
29. For MS272xC with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), record the measured value into the
“Displayed Burst Power” row of Table A-67, then subtract the “Displayed Burst Power” value from the
“Adjusted Output Power” reading that was obtained in Step 27. Then record the “Calculated Burst
Power Error” and the displayed value of “Frequency Error” into Table A-67.
30. For MS272xC with Option 41 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Demodulator), record the displayed Phase Err
RMS (deg) into Table A-75, “Option 41, At 1800 MHz, –10 dBm Level, TCH ALL Pattern (GSM)”
on page A-38.
31. Verify that the measured values in Step 29 or Step 30 or both are within specifications.
32. On the MG3700A, change the selected pattern to GsmBurst_1slot.
33. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –50 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-68, “Option 40, At 1800 MHz, –50 dBm
Level, TCH Pattern (GSM)” on page A-36. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the MS272xC to update its
measured results.
34. For MS272xC with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), record the measured value into the
“Displayed Burst Power” row of Table A-68, then subtract the “Displayed Burst Power” value from the
“Adjusted Output Power” reading that was obtained in Step 33. Then record the “Calculated Burst
Power Error” and the displayed value of “Frequency Error” into Table A-68.
35. For MS272xC with Option 41 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Demodulator), record the displayed Phase Err RMS
(deg) into Table A-76, “Option 41, At 1800 MHz, –50 dBm Level, TCH Pattern (GSM)” on page A-38.
36. Verify that the measured values in Step 34 or Step 35 or both are within specifications.
