LISTENING WITHOUT LIFTING THE HANDSET
Various kinds of information services are available as recorded messages: stock
market reports, sports, medical/scientific research summaries, horoscopes,
weather, etc. Also, many companies that have hotlines, 800-numbers, or that re-
ceive a heavy volume of incoming calls answer calls with a recorded message. For
example, if you call an airline to make a reservation, you often will hear a recorded
message (“All our representatives are busy. Your call will be answered as soon as
one is free.”) followed by a long wait until your call is answered.
With your MERLIN Plus phone, you can dial and listen to all or part of a call. You
don’t need to lift the handset until you want to talk.
