Using a Heat Extractor in combination with a cryo mold or specimen stage promotes a faster freezing method
which freezes from the top and the bottom simultaneously.
It also reduces the formation of freezing artifacts.
cimen stage is inserted into the fast freezing rail and the specimen mounted. A cryo mold can also be used.
Heat Extractors
1. Insert the heat extractor into the fast freezing rail (g. 1).
2. Turn the knob (g. 2) to lower the heat extractor onto the specimen (g. 3).
3. Further turn the knob (g. 2) to increase the pressure onto the specimen.
Carefully observe this process to avoid a possible deformation of the specimen.
4. To loosen the heat extractor, turn the knob (g. 2) in opposite direction.
