Before sectioning, the blade holder and the cryo chamber should be at a stable temperature close to the desired cutting
temperature. ese temperatures should be selected to suit the consistency of the specimen.
All tools which come into contact with the sections or which are used to manipulate the specimen must also be cooled to
prevent the tissue from sticking to them. erefore all accessories should be stored on the shelves or in the brush tray in the
cryo chamber. e exceptions to this rule are the specimen chucks which should be kept at room temperature.
e heated sliding window should be closed during periods of inactivity and while preparing specimens to avoid warm air
getting into the chamber. is will result in more favourable working conditions and a lower frost build-up.

e surface of the blade holder base might be cold. Use gloves if necessary.

e clearance angle can be read on the scale on the left side on the upper part of the blade holder.
