Theboathasbeenconstructedwithvariousmetalcomponents,allofwhichrequirespecialaenon
duringrounecare.Decomposionoccurs,resulnginrust,anditisacceleratedwhentheboatis
operated in salt water.
Damage that occurs to the boat as result of corrosion is not
covered under the warranty!
WhileAxisusesqualitymetalcomponentschosenfortheirdurability
aswellasaracveappearance,allmetaleventuallyreactstoexposure
to water. Therefore, part of the care and maintenance of metal
requirementistoensurethatitiskeptcleananddry.Aeranoung,
rinse the metal pieces as well as the rest of the boat, allowing, at
minimum,athoroughairdrying.Toavoidsponganddiscoloring,drying
withasoragortowelwillkeepthenew-boatlookformanyseasonsto
come.Itisalsowisetowashallmetalcomponentswhenyouwashyour
boatasthiswillhelppreventmoisturefromaecngthesurface.
Whenboanginbrackishorsaltwater,thepost-oungcleaningis
highlycricalfortheproteconofthenishes.Corrosionpotenalmeans
thatboatsoperanginthistypeofcondionmustbeequippedwithself-
sacricingzincanodes.Theseanodesareaachedinseverallocaons,
includingthetransom,driveshaandrudder.(Checkwithyourauthorized
Axisdealertobecertainthatyouareawareofalllocaonsofthese
anodes as they will require periodic replacement.) The anodes serve to
signicantlyreducethepotenalforcorrosivedamagetothepermanent
metal components on the boat.
 Boatsoperatedrounelyinsaltwatershouldalsobeequippedwith
aclosedcoolingsystemtoprotectandextendthelifeoftheengine.See
theengineowner’smanualformoreinformaonregardingthisimportant
topic.
 Iftheboatownerbeginstonocerustordeterioraonofmetal
components,evenwhenoperatedregularlyinfreshwater,thisshouldbebroughttotheaenonofthe
authorizedAxisdealer.Insomeinstances,itisnecessarytoaachself-sacricingzincanodes,evenwhen
operatedinfreshwater.Besafe,ratherthansorry!
Axis uses only marine-rated and marine-grade fasteners on all
models. If, at any time, it is necessary to replace any fasteners,
seek guidance from an authorized Axis dealer to ensure that
such replacements meet the requirements for operation in a
marine environment.
