AFTER STARTING
THE ENGINE
Asbeforestarng,anunexpectedorstrongodorcanbetherstsignofleakage.Bothexhaustandfuel
leakshavedisncveodorsandshouldneverbeignored.Ifeitherispresent,donotstarttheengineunl
thesourceoftheodorhasbeendeterminedandcorrected.
Because gasoline is highly flammable and vapors are more
dangerous than the actual liquid fuel, never introduce flame,
spark or electrical ignition into an unknown source of a fuel
emission or leak. Always verify the source of and correct any
leakages prior to use of the boat.
Baeryvoltageandfuellevelsareregisteredonagauge.(SeeInstrument Panel and Gauges informaon
elsewhereinthisOwner’sManualfordetails.)
Inverifyingthebaerycharge,lookforareadingaround13volts,butnolowerthan10.5voltsor
higherthan14.5volts.Erracreadingsareusuallyasignoflowvoltageorlooseconnecon(s).Evenifthe
readingappearscorrect,iftherewereanysymptomsofvoltageinsuciencyorerrorduringaprevious
oung,checkwithanauthorizedAxisdealerbeforeundertakinganotheroung.Youdonotwantto
becomestrandedwithadeadbaeryawayfromthedock.
Thecurrentboatmodelsareequippedwithalow-voltagealarm.Evenwithafullychargedbaery
on-board,itispossibletodischargesomuchthattheboatbecomesdisabled.Ifrunningthestereo
componentswiththeengineOFF,periodicallycheckthevoltagereadingtoascertainhowmuchhasbeen
discharged.Toavoiddiculesinre-starngtheengine,thesystemwillshutothestereoandsoundan
alarmifthevoltagelevelfallsbelow10.5volts.Thealarmwillconnueforapproximatelytwo(2)minutes
toalloweveryoneoutofthewateraroundthetransom,andtheboatoperatortorestarttheengineto
allowtheenginealternatortorechargethebaery.
Asnotedabove,donotaempttojump-startadeadbaery.Thisisnotonlydangerousbutputs
unduestressontheboatengine’salternator,whichmaycauseittofail.Thisisnotcoveredunder
warranty.
Attaching the wrong battery cable or using jumper cables can
result in damage to electrical components on the boat. Such
damage is not covered under warranty.
Fuellevelsshouldbenotedpriortoanoung.Axisrecommendsstarngalloungswithafulltank
andreturningtoshoretorefuelwheneverthefuelreadingsdropintotheone-quarter(1/4)rangeas
fallinglowercanresultinengineissues.(SeeFuelinginformaonintheGet ReadyseconofthisOwners
Manual.)Failuretopayaenontothefuellevelcanresultintheboatrunningoutoffuelandleavingthe
boatstranded.Axisdoesnotpayfortowingininstancesoffuelmiscalculaon.
AFTER
THE OUTING
Lookforsignsofleaksoranythingabnormal.Itsasimplething,butoenthesimplest,quicklookcan
pinpointanissuebeforeitbecomesaproblem.
