4.2 TOOLS REQUIRED
To commission the OmniCare EVC System equipment the
following tools will be required:
• A small flat-bladed (terminal) screwdriver,
• A large Posi-drive screwdriver for internal screws,
• A T20 Torx Tamperproof screwdriver for Advance Remote
Unit Front Panels,
• Digital Multimeter for voltage and continuity tests.
4.3 INITIAL CABLING CHECKS
Before connecting any circuit cables to the Control Panel(s) the
following initial cable checks should be performed.
1. Ensure all Remote Units are connected to the circuit(s) to be
checked.
2. Ensure that there are no shorts to earth on any of the cables,
3. Ensure the 0V cable has continuity between the two ends of
each circuit. The 0V cable is the only conductor that should
have continuity around the circuit.
4. Ensure there is a reading of 150Ω between the CAN H and
CAN L cables on each loop. This check ensures the CAN bus
cables are connected to the nearest Remote Unit but does
not determine if the cables are swapped.
NOTE: Ensure the links are NOT FITTED on the Termination Boards
within the Remote Units.
CA U T I O N
The 0V Continuity Check is important to prevent damage to the
Remote Units due to incorrect wiring.
DO NOT connect any cables to the Control Panel until
the 0V Continuity Check has been successfully completed
NOTE: For further information on diagnosing faults refer to “Fault
Finding” on page 69.
