6.2.7 Vertical Self-Cleaning
Filter
See Figure 6-4.
NOTE: A STERIS or STERIS-trained service technician is required to
perform this task. Contact STERIS for this service. Preventive main-
tenance is not covered under warranty.
IMPORTANT: Intake filter requires periodic inspection and
replacement. Initial inspection is suggested once a week; user should
determine frequency thereafter.
Remove and clean screen of self-cleaning filter cartridge located on
mechanical core as follows:
1. After last cycle of day, allow unit to cool down.
2. On load side of washer, turn LOCK/UNLOCK/INIT key selector
to LOCK position. Remove key from selector and keep on your-
self. Display shows:
WASHER LOCKED
3. On mechanical core, loosen quick-disconnect clamps on valve.
Push tank 1 recirculation valve to the right (see Figure 6-4, Detail
A).
NOTE: Once self-cleaning filter cartridge has been cleaned,
tank 1 recirculation valve may remain pulled or returned to its
original location.
4. Loosen quick-disconnect clamps on self-cleaning filter and pip-
ing. Push return outlet piping to the left (see Figure 6-4, Detail B).
5. Lift out self-cleaning filter cartridge. Remove debris by scraping
exterior surface filter cartridge.
6. Rinse filter under running water.
7. Reinsert filter.
8. Move piping back into position. Tighten quick-disconnect
clamps.
9. Using key, turn LOCK/UNLOCK/INIT to UNLOCK position.
10. Reinitialize washer. Turn LOCK/UNLOCK/INIT key switch
(located on load side control panel and unload side control
panel) to INITIALIZATION. Display shows Mode Selection
screen.
NOTE: Selector returns automatically from reset to UNLOCK
position when key is released.
11. In Mode Selection screen, press AUTOMATIC touch pad.
12. Cycle Selection menu appears.
13. Run a CART cycle to verify for leaks.
