7.4.5 Installation on a gearbox
The following describes how toinstall theaxial piston unit ona gearbox.
After installing ona gearbox, theaxial piston unit iscovered and isdifficult toaccess:
▶ Before installing, make sure that thespigot diameter centers theaxial piston unit
(observe tolerances) and that noexcessive axial orradial forces are acting onthe
drive shaft oftheaxial piston unit (installation length).
▶ Protect thedrive shaft against frictional corrosion byproviding permanent
lubrication.
▶ Fasten theaxial piston unit attheinstallation location.
No gearing forces higher than thepermissible axial and radial forces should act
onthe shaft; ifnecessary, support thegear wheel atthegearbox output separately.
7.4.6 Installation with cardan shaft
The following describes how toconnect theaxial piston unit tothe drive motor with
acardan shaft.
NOTICE! Damage tothe axial piston unit and leaks attheshaft seal due to
incorrectly installed cardan shaft!
Improperly installed cardan shafts generate unbalances. This results invibrations
and excessive forces onthe drive shaft.
▶ Observe thecardan shaft manufacturer's assembly instructions.
1. Place theaxial piston unit near theintended installation location. Allow enough
space for thecardan shaft tofit through onboth sides.
2. Place thecardan shaft onthe output shaft ofthedrive motor.
3. Push theaxial piston unit tothe cardan shaft and place thecardan shaft onthe
drive shaft oftheaxial piston unit.
4. Bring theaxial piston unit tothe installation position and fasten it. Details
oftherequired tools and tightening torque for themounting bolts can
beobtained from thesystem manufacturer.
