7.4.8 Hydraulically connecting theaxial piston unit
NOTICE
Insufficient suction pressure!
Generally, aminimum permissible suction pressure atportS isspecified for axial
piston pumps inall installation positions. Ifthepressure atportS drops below
thespecified values, damage may occur which may lead tothe destruction ofthe
axial piston pump!
▶ Make sure therequired suction pressure ismaintained. This isinfluenced by:
– The piping (e.g. suction cross-section, pipe diameter, length ofsuction line)
– The position ofthereservoir
– The viscosity ofthehydraulic fluid
– A filter element orcheck valve inthe suction line (check thelevel
ofcontamination ofthefilter element regularly)
– the geodesic height of the place of use
The machine/system manufacturer isresponsible for dimensioning ofthelines.
Connect theaxial piston unit tothe rest ofthehydraulic system inaccordance with
thehydraulic circuit diagram ofthemachine/system manufacturer.
The ports and fastening threads are designed for the maximum permissible
pressures p
max
, see in Table 16, Table 17 and Table 18 on page44. The machine/
system manufacturer isrequired toensure that theconnecting elements and lines
correspond tothe specified application conditions (pressure, flow, hydraulic fluid,
temperature) with thenecessary safety factors.
Connect only hydraulic lines that are match theaxial piston unit port
(pressurelevel, size, system ofunits).
Observe thefollowing information when routing thesuction, pressure and
drainlines.
• Lines and hoses should beinstalled without pre-charge pressure sono further
mechanical forces are applied during operation that will reduce theservice life
oftheaxial piston unit and, possibly, theentire machine/system.
• Use suitable seals assealing material.
• Suction line (pipe orhose)
– The suction line should beasshort and straight aspossible.
– Measure theline cross-section ofthesuction line sothepressure atthesuction
port does not drop below theminimum permissible pressure. Make sure
themaximum suction pressure isnot exceeded (e.g. when prefilling).
– Make sure theconnections and connecting elements are airtight.
– The hose must bepressure-resistant, also toexternal air pressure.
• Pressure line
– For the pressure lines, use only pipes, hoses and connecting elements rated for
the working pressure range specified in data sheets 93100 (seeTable 16,
Table 17 and Table 18).
• Drain line
– Always route thedrain lines sothat thehousing isconstantly filled with
hydraulicfluid and toensure noair gets through theshaft seal, even during
extended standstill periods.
