1.1 Abbreviations and subject index
IOM:
Abbreviation for “Installation and Operating Manual“ of the
device.
Electric conductivity:
Electric conductivity value of the water, the smaller this
measured value (S/cm) the better the water quality. In case
of soft water feed, the Ministil demineralisation can reach
conductivities below 1 S/cm.
Mixed-bed ion exchange technology:
The mixed-bed ion exchange technology is a full desalinati-
on process in which an ion exchange takes place from iron
and manganese-free feed water in a continuous process. All
cations are exchanged for hydrogen ions and all anions for
hydrogen ions. The cation and anion exchange resins are
available as a regenerated resin mixture in a BWT Minstil cart-
ridge. After the resin filling has been exhausted, the cations
or anions can‘t desalinate the feed water.
Feed water:
The feed water has to be pre-treated and must be free
of iron and manganese.
SDI, Silt Density Index:
The clogging index is a measure of the organic contamination
of raw water. Basis of the measurement method is a filtration
process which determines the blocking tendency, measured
during 15 min.
TDS, Total Dissolved Solids:
Abbreviation for “Total Dissolved Solids“ the total amount
of dissolved salts, measured in mg/l.
Full desalting cartridge, BWT MINISTIL:
BWT MINISTIL mixed-bed desalting cartridges enable service
regeneration for the simple and inexpensive production of
pure, fully desalted water. The use of these compact pure
water systems is diverse, e.g. high-quality industrial rinsing
or cleaning processes or for the manufacture of technical
and pharmaceutical products. The cartridges are pressure-
resistant and made of different materials such as plastic or
stainless steel. The cartridges are filled with ion exchange
resin. Exhausted resin can be renewed with regenerated
resin in exactly the same quality by the BWT regeneration
service.
