MACHINE STORAGE
Storage Preparation
If the machine is to be in storage for more than 30 days,
park the machine inside a building. If a building is not
available, park the machine in a dry area on planks and
cover the machine with a waterproof covering:
Wash the machine.1.
Lubricate the machine at all grease ttings. 2.
Paint any areas where the paint has been damaged.3.
Move all hydraulic controls to relieve any pressure in 4.
the hydraulic circuits.
Drain the fuel tank.5.
Put approximately 8 liters (2 U.S. Gallons) of diesel 6.
ushing oil in the fuel tank. Run the engine until the
exhaust smoke is blue-white.
Drain the ushing oil from the fuel tank.7.
Put 15 ml (one tablespoon) of Shell Oil Company VPI 8.
crystals in the fuel tank.
Change the engine oil and replace the oil lter.9.
Drain the cooling system. Leave the drain open and 10.
do not tighten the expansion tank cap. Put a Do Not
Operate tag in the cab.
Clean or replace the primary air lter element.11.
Cover the exposed steering cylinder rods and equi-12.
pment valve spools with CASE Rust and Corrosion
Preventative.
Charge the batteries. Remove the batteries from the 13.
machine and put the batteries on a wooden pallet in
a cool dry area. If possible, keep the batteries in a
building where the temperature is above freezing (0°C
[32°F]). Make sure the batteries are clean.
Removal from Storage
NOTE: DO NOT START the engine until all steps have
been done:
Change the fuel lter.1.
Put coolant in the engine cooling system.2.
Check the condition of the drive belts. Replace if re-3.
quired.
Check the engine oil level. 4.
Check the hydraulic oil level.5.
Check the transmission oil level.6.
Check the oil level of both axles. 7.
Lubricate the machine at all grease ttings.8.
Use petroleum base solvent and remove the 9. CASE
Rust and Corrosion Preventive from the hydraulic
cylinder rods.

Fill the fuel tank.11.
Bleed the air from the fuel system. 12.
Prime the turbocharger with clean engine oil. Start the 13.
engine. It is important that you use the Starting the
Engine procedure in this manual for priming the turbo-
charger lines with oil.
