Disabling and Enabling the Radio Interface
The access point radio is enabled by default. Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to
disable the access point radio:
Use the no form of the shutdown command to enable the radio port.
Configuring the Role in Radio Network
You can configure your access point as a root device that is connected to the wired LAN or as a repeater
(non-root) device that is not connected to the wired LAN. Figure 7-1 shows a root access point and a
repeater access point.

configure terminal Enter global configuration mode.
Step 2
interface dot11radio 0 Enter interface configuration mode for the radio interface.
Step 3
shutdown Disable the radio port.
Step 4
end Return to privileged EXEC mode.

copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
