The windows may be damaged by thermal shock. If the plant is operating slide the probe in
gradually, pausing frequently to allow temperatures to stabilise.
As soon as this phase of the installation is complete, air is required at the measurement zone
purge air as quickly as possible to reduce the possibility of acid gases forming within the
measurement zone. Fit the GCU and the accompanying air lines and switch ON the air (as
described in 4.7. Installation of the GCU), within hours not days!
It is important to note that if the assembly is inserted into a stack made of non-conductive
material (cement, fibreglass), there is a chance that static charge will build up on the analyser
and become injurious to personnel and equipment. It is critical that the mounting flange be
grounded to a substantial earth conductor prior to inserting the probe.
4.6. Fitting the Active Weather Cover and Sensor Head
* Before proceeding further make a note of the position of the sensor head alignment stud relative to the rest of
the probe as it will need to be returned to this position.
a) Remove the alignment nuts together with the spring/flat washers from the four alignment studs. This
will allow the sensor head mount to be removed from the alignment flange. Note that the sensor
head mount is held in place by an ‘O’ ring and may be tight.
