The user interface unit (UIU)
The UIU is installed in the consumer premises, connected via two communication wires to the MCU
(meter). The meter is usually located outside the building.
The UIU has a two-part construction - the base and the numeric keypad with LCD display. The
numeric keypad is used to enter tokens and initiate user functions.
Note
The communication cables between the meter and the UIU are not polarity sensitive.
