Ophthalmic Surgical System
Chapter 2 - Maintenance instructions
12 - Version date: Nov. 01, 2013 - N° doc.: 30204400-B
2. The treatment beam emitted from this instrument is a possible source of ignition of
flammable materials or explosives. Do not use this system near these materials.
3. It is always required to wear safety glasses for anyone present at a treatment. The
operating physician must protect itself by using a protection filter in the optical path of
his/her observation system.
4. Never leave the system ON when it is unattended. If you have to leave, turn the system
OFF.
5. When the Laser is ON, keep the system in the standby mode except during actual
treatment.
6. Never open the Laser enclosure. Hazardous levels of visible and invisible optical radia-
tion are present inside. Refer service problems to qualified personnel.
7. Observe information on all DANGER, WARNING or CAUTION labels.
8. Circuitry for connection of a remote interlock is provided. An interlock can be attached
to the Laser room door or other actuator. The Laser Module can electronically go in
standby and cannot be fired if the Laser room is entered during use.
9. Regular maintenance which can be performed by the user is described in the Instruc-
tion Manual. The performance of regular maintenance including calibration checking
will help to assure trouble-free operation.
2.2.5 NOHD
Power (P): 1.2 W
Wavelength (L) 532 nm
Maximum Irradiation Tolerable 18 W/m²
Diameter of rays 240 μm
Beam divergence 0.11 rad
NOHD for 532 nm 3 m
This safety distance is irrelevant however, as the access to the Laser irradiation is shielded
through the marked service room.
2.2.6 Cautions
Electrostatic discharge through the printed circuit boards will damage the components of
the EVA. Handle all circuit boards (replacements and defective) by their non-conductive edg-
es and use anti-static containers, when transporting them. Before servicing the equipment,
ground yourself and the tool to discharge any accumulated static charge, by wearing a static
tool wrist strap. Use hospital-grade grounded receptacle only.
Servicing of this product, in accordance with the Service Manual, should never be undertaken
in the absence of proper tools, test equipment and the most recent revision of the Service
Manual, which must be clearly and thoroughly understood.
Do not apply tension to the line cord. Check the rear panel voltage setting before connecting
the EVA to AC main power.
Warning! Never immerse this equipment in liquid.
