1 Introduction
1.1 Intended Use
The Ophthalmic Surgical System EVA is a surgical instrument for use during anterior and
posterior segment ophthalmic surgeries. The EVA is intended to perform Phaco-emulsifica-
tion and/or Vitrectomy.
The following functions are included in the most advanced version of the system:
Anterior functions: Phaco-emulsification, Vitrectomy and Diathermy.
Posterior functions: Illumination, Fluid/Air Exchange, Viscous Fluid Control and Proportional
Scissors.
Additional function: Ophthalmic Laser for coagulation.
The EVA system is equipped with an advanced Irrigation and Aspiration system. It is provid-
ed with an advanced pump system which makes Aspiration possible in two ways: vacuum
controlled and flow controlled.
If a Laser Module is available (optional), the surgical system can be used to coagulate abnor-
mal vascular tissue in the retina and for other photo coagulation procedures in the eye.
