06 FLOORING
FLOORING
The Advantage floors are constructed
of 5/8” exterior type plywood sup-
ported by steel cross-members. This
construction provides a lightweight,
durable floor that insulates the interior
from road noise and the elements.
RUBBER FLOOR COVERING
The standard floor covering is transit-
type ribbed or smooth rubber matting.
Rubber flooring is durable and easy to
clean. With proper care, rubber floor
covering should last the life of the bus.
FLOOR MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance will require a
broom and or an industrial vacuum
cleaner, a damp mop or rotary
scrubbing machine. Floor cleaning
should be performed daily or several
times a week depending on the amount
of foot traffic. Deep clean at least once
a month.
u
Remove dust and loose debris with a
broom or industrial vacuum cleaner.
u
Mop the floor with clean water and
a neutral detergent. The detergent
dilution should be in accordance with
the manufacturer’s instructions. Tough
stains may require gentle scraping or
use of a scrub brush.
u
Re-mop the floor with completely
clean water so that all detergent
residues are removed.
DEEP CLEAN
u
Scrub the floor using a medium
stiff bristled broom, a rotary floor
scrubbing machine such as “Rotowash
(see www.rotowash.com for more
information), or an electric scrubber
(450 tr/min with a green or blue disc
brush). Use an alkaline detergent if
necessary.
u
Rinse liberally with clean water to
remove all detergent residues.
u
Dry with a mop or wet-functioning
vacuum cleaner.
i CAUTION
DO NOT CLEAN BUS FLOORS BY
SPRAYING WATER FROM A HOSE.
WATER MAY LEAK UNDER FLOOR
SEALS AND CAUSE FLOORS TO
DETERIORATE.
DO NOT USE PETROLEUM-BASED
SOLVENTS ON RUBBER FLOORING.
THEY MAY PRESENT A FIRE HAZARD
AND WILL DAMAGE RUBBER.
DO NOT LEAVE DETERGENT RESIDUES
ON THE FLOOR. ALWAYS RINSE THE
FLOOR THOROUGHLY WITH CLEAN
WATER.
CLEANING AGENTS WHICH HAVE NOT
BEEN CLEANED OFF CAN AFFECT THE
SLIP RESISTANCE PROPERTIES OF THE
FLOOR.
