14 TRAILER TOWING
IMPORTANT
YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT CAPABLE
OF TOWING A TRAILER. TOWING A
TRAILER MAY DAMAGE THE VEHICLE
AND AFFECT HANDLING AND BRAK-
ING PREFORMANCE. VEHICLE DAM-
AGE CAUSED BY TOWING A TRAILER
MAY VOID THE VEHICLE WARRANTY.
15 VEHICLE LOADING
The operator is responsible to ensure GAWR/
GVWR limits are not exceeded during vehicle
operation.
Before loading a vehicle, familiarize yourself with
the following terms:
• Base Curb Weight: Weight of the vehicle
including any standard equipment,
fluids, lubricants,etc. It does not include
occupantd or aftermarket equipment.
• Payload: Combine maximum allowable
weight of cargo, occupants and optional
equipment. The payload equals the gross
vehicle weight rating minus base curb
weight.
• GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight): Base curb
weight plus payload weight. The GVW is not
a limit or a specification.
• GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating):
Maximum permissible total weight of
the base vehicle, occupants, optional
equipment and cargo. The GVWR is specific
to each vehicle and is listed on the Safety
Certification Label on the driver`s door
pillar.
• GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating):
Carrying capacity for each axle system.
The GAWR is specific to each vehicle and is
listed on the Safety Certification Label on
the driver`s door pillar.
WEIGHTS AND LOADING
This vehicle is designed to provide
satisfactory service throughout
its lifetime if it is not loaded in
excess of either the Gross Vehicle
Weight Rating (GVWR) or the
Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
The certification label shows the
maximum allowable weight for the
suspension, shown as the Gross
Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
(GVWR) is the maximum permissible
weight of the vehicle, and takes
into account the capabilities of the
engine, transmission, suspension,
axles, brakes and tires.

AND SPECIFICATIONS CAN RESULT
IN COMPONENT FAILURE LEADING
TO LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL,

FAILURE OF A COMPONENT DUE
TO OVERLOADING CONSTITUTES
MISUSE. THE NEW VEHICLE
WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO
ANY PART OF THE BUS THAT HAS
BEEN SUBJECT TO MISUSE.
