09 EXTERIOR
The Advantage offers two exterior
sidewall options for your convenience -
a composite side wall panel; and
an aluminum side wall panel.
Our composite side wall panels are
specifically engineered to provide
unsurpassed performance against
weathering. Our composite shell
exteriors are superior in both appear-
ance and durability. The benefits of a
composite exterior are rigidity, greater
impact-resistance with fewer dents
and dings. The composite exterior has
a integrated gel-coated color surface
which won`t chip or crack like paint. It
stands up to UV rays for a long-lasting
beautiful finish, and it will not rust.
Our aluminum side wall panels have
a superior appearance. The benefits
of an aluminum side wall panel are
that it is light-weight, can add to the
insulating properties of your vehicle,
and aluminum does not rust. Aluminum
side wall panels provide a long-lasting
beautiful finish.
CLEANING THE EXTERIOR
u
Wash the exterior body panels,
windows, doors, and wheels on a
regular basis with warm, soapy water
and a soft cloth or sponge.
Care should be taken if using a power-wash
wand as damage to the exterior surface of the
body panel, paint, or peeling of graphics may
occur. Avoid using brushes as they collect dirt
that may scratch exterior surfaces.
Heavy films or smudges on the gel coated
body panels may be removed using a light liquid
abrasive. Avoid harsh abrasives that will dull the
gel coat finish.
Heavy films or smudges on the aluminum
body panels may be removed by using supplies
from your local automotive supply store, which
are specifically formulated for use on aluminum
painted surfaces.
u
Wash the underside of the bus
often by spraying with warm, soapy
water to remove dirt and debris which
can promote corrosion of the frame,
suspension, exhaust parts, brake & fuel
lines and fasteners.
It is important to wash the underside
frequently and thoroughly in areas where salt
mixtures are used on the roads in winter months.
If your bus is equipped with a skirt-
mounted condenser, check for build-up
of road dirt, leaves or other debris
which can collect on the condenser
fins and reduce cooling efficiency. The
fins can usually be cleaned with a jet of
water or high pressure air.
Before cleaning, ensure that the engine is off
and that no electrical power is being supplied to
the condenser unit.
Constant exposure to natural
environmental pollutants requires
additional washing. Over time the
body panel begin to lose its gloss.
To restore your finish to the original
gloss requires special attention. After
washing with a mild soap or detergent
give the surface a good polishing with
a self-cleaning marine or automotive
wax. If the surface has not been
maintained and has weathered badly,
and if cleaning and waxing does
not restore the finish satisfactory,
additional steps will be required to
restore the body panel gloss.
