CHASSIS
Advantage buses are built on the Ford
E-Series chassis.
All persons responsible for the
operation and maintenance of the
vehicle should read and follow the
guidelines presented in the Ford
chassis owner’s manuals and/or
maintenance schedules that are
included with the vehicle. All questions
regarding chassis operation or
maintenance should be directed to
your Advantage Dealer or local chassis
dealer.
LUBRICATION
The chassis manufacturer’s recommen-
dations should be followed regarding
chassis and engine lubrication sched-
ules and specifications. Note that
special requirements may exist for gas
or diesel engines or severe conditions
such as heat, cold, dust, mud, or sus-
tained high power output.
FILTERS
Filters should be changed regularly,
according to the manufacturer’s
specifications, using only approved
filters.
Note that frequently driven buses may require
more frequent filter changes to maintain systems.
BRAKE RETARDER
A brake retarder may also be an option
on your bus. The brake retarder helps
to greatly reduce wear on service
brakes, especially under stop-and-
go conditions and during mountain
driving, by dissipating heat. This allows
the service brakes to stay cool, which
results in greater effectiveness and
added safety.
