4.3.2 RS-485 termination (S5)
Switch S5 is used to activate termination and fail-safe
resistors for the integrated RS-485-interface on terminal
X1: A+ and B-.
See fig. 56 for the location of the switch.

NOTE: It is important to have termination and fail-safe
activated on at least one node on the network to
secure proper function. The termination shall ONLY
be enabled in the cable ends of a RS-485 network.
The termination resistor is used to avoid reflections of
transmitted signals and the fail-safe resistors will
keep A+ and B- terminals at a steady state when no
node is transmitting. It is important not to enable any
additional termination apart from the two in each
cable end as it will impose as an additional load for a
transmitting transceiver and may cause
malfunctioning.
