The material thickness can be a full multiple of the optimum thickness (table); it is important to
note, however, that the microwave transparency decreases significantly with increasing material
thickness.

If process temperatures are high, the device should be included in the usual container insulation
system (2) to prevent the electronics from heating as a result of thermal radiation or convection. The
rib structure (1) must not be insulated.
Environment
Ambient temperature range
The following values apply up to a process temperature of +85 °C (+185 °F). At higher process
temperatures, the permitted ambient temperature is reduced.
Without LCD display:
Standard: –40 to +85 °C (–40 to +185 °F)
With LCD display: –40 to +85 °C (–40 to +185 °F) with limitations in optical properties such as
display speed and contrast for example. Can be used without limitations up to
–20 to +60 °C (–4 to +140 °F)
If operating outdoors in strong sunlight:
Mount the device in the shade.
Avoid direct sunlight, particularly in warm climatic regions.
Use a weather protection cover (see accessories).
Ambient temperature limits
The permitted ambient temperature (T
a
) depends on the selected housing material (Product
Configurator → Housing; Material →) and the selected process temperature range (Product
Configurator → Application →).
In the event of temperature (T
p
) at the process connection, the permitted ambient temperature (T
a
)
is reduced.
The following information only takes functional aspects into consideration. Additional
restrictions may apply for certified device versions.
