8 Operating modes
8.1 Hold mode
To eliminate the influence on „low noise measurements“ due to changing current
through the chuck's heating system, the SP72 controller is equipped with a feature
called Hold mode.
Select this operation mode after the chuck has reached and stabilized at the set
temperature and before testing starts. If the hold mode is selected before the chuck
current has settled and stabilized, the controller will show „folo” (for follow) in the set
temperature display(17) and change to the Hold mode automatically when the current
has stabilized.
Release the Hold mode after testing has finished.
Display:
While the SP72 controller is in Hold mode the set temperature display will show the
set temperature alternating with "hold". The chuck current will not change as long as
the chuck temperature is within a 10°C distance from the set temperature.
Note:
While in "Hold" mode the chuck temperature may very slowly drift away from the set
temperature. This is normal because of the locked temperature controlling
(no current change).
After releasing "Hold" operation the controller will instantly start to correct the actual
temperature.
Selecting Hold:
Press the "Enter" key at the keyboard once, then select "↑" to activate "Hold" mode
or press "↓" to deactivate.
Interface:
The Hold operation can be selected via RS232C and IEEE-488 interfaces too.
See chapter 9.4 or 10.3 for interface commands.
