NOTE DEF residue crystallizes after
some time. Remove DEF residue.

DEF can also be removedwithadamp
cloth and coldwater.

If DEF has alreadycrystallized, clean
using asponge and coldwater.
DEFisaliquid urea solutionused forexhaust gas
aftertreatment of dieselengines. In order forthe
exhaustgas aftertreatment to function properly,
only use DEF in accordance withISO 22241.
DEF hasthe following properties:

colorless and odorless
R
non-flammable
DEFavailability:

youcan have DEF addedbyfastservice at a
qualified specialistworkshop, e.g aFreight‐
liner Sprinter service center.

DEFisavailable at numerous gasstations via
DEFfilling pumps.

alternatively,DEF is available at qualified spe‐
cialistworkshops, e.g. aFreightliner Sprinter
service center,and at numerous gasstations
as aDEF refill canisterorDEF refill bottle.

DEFfreezes at atemperatureofapprox‐
imately12.2 °F (-1C).The vehicle is equip‐
ped withaDEF preheating system at thefac‐
tory.Thismeans that winter operation is also
ensured fortemperatures below12.2 °F
(-1C).Ifyou add DEF at temperatures
below12.2 °F (-1C),the DEF levelinthe
instrument clustermay notbedisplayedcor‐
rectly.Ifthe DEF is frozen, drivefor at least
20 minutesand then parkthe vehicle fora
minimumof30seconds, so that thelevel is
correctlydisplayed. In extreme winter condi‐
tions, thetime needed to detect thetop-up
amount maybeconsiderably longer.Parkthe
vehicle in awarmgaragetospeed up this
process.

Ensurethe connection between therefill con‐
tainer and vehicle filler neckdoes notdrip.
