Installation notesfor two-wayradios

WARNING Risk of accident dueto
improper work on two-way radios
The electromagnetic radiation from two-way
radios can interfere withthe on-boardelec‐
tronics if RF transmitters aremanipulated or
retrofitted incorrectly.
This could jeopardize theoperating safetyof
thevehicle.

Youshouldhave all work on electrical
and electronic componentscarried out
at aqualified specialistworkshop.

WARNING Risk of accident from incor‐
rect operationoftwo-way radios
If youoperatetwo-way radios incorrectlyin
thevehicle, theelectromagnetic radiation
could interfere withthe on-boardelectronics,
e.g.:

if thetwo-way radio is notconnected to
an exterior antenna
R
if theexteriorantenna is notcorrectly
mounted or is notoflow reflection
This could jeopardies theoperating safetyof
thevehicle.

Have thelow-reflection exterior antenna
installed at aqualified specialistwork‐
shop.

When operating two-way radios in the
vehicle, alwaysconnectthem to the
low-reflection exterior antenna.

The operatingpermit maybeinvalidated if the
instructions forinstallation and use of two-
wayradios arenot observed.

Onlyuse approved frequency bands.

Observe themaximum permissible out‐
put powerinthese frequency bands.

Onlyuse approved antenna positions.
Use TechnicalSpecification ISO/TS21609 (Road
Vehicles -EMC guidelines forinstallation of after‐
marketradio frequency transmitting equipment)
when retrofitting two-way radios. Comply withthe
legal requirements fordetachable parts.
If your vehicle has installing fortwo-way radio
equipment,use thepower supplyorantenna con‐
nections intended foruse withthe installing.
Observe themanufacturer's supplement during
installation.
