Alwayskeep your feet on thefloor.Donot put
your feet on thecockpit, forexample. Your
feet mayotherwise be in thedeployment area
of theairbag.

If children aretraveling in thevehicle, observe
theadditional notes(/page34).

Alwaysstowand secureobjectscorrectly.
Objects in thevehicle interior mayprevent an air‐
bagfromfunctioning correctly.Eachvehicle
occupant mustalwaysmakesureofthe following
in particular:
R
Thereare no people, animals or objects
between thevehicle occupants and an airbag.
R
Thereare no objects between theseat, door
and door pillar (B-pillar).
R
Thereare no hardobjects, e.g. coat hangers,
hanging on thegrabhandles or coat hooks.
R
Thereare no accessoryparts, suchasmobile
navigation devices, mobile phones or cup
holders, attached to thevehicle within the
deployment area of an airbag, e.g. on the
cockpit, on thedoor,onthe side windowor
on theside wall trim.
In addition,noconnectingcables, tensioning
straps or retaining straps mustberouted or
attached to thevehicle within thedeployment
area of an airbag. Alwayscomply withthe
accessorymanufacturer's installation instruc‐
tionsand, in particular,the notesonsuitable
places forinstallation.

Thereare no heavy,sharp-edged or fragile
objectsinthe pockets of your clothing. Store
suchobjectsinasuitable place.
Limited protection provided by airbags
&
WARNING Risk of injury due to modifica‐
tions to theairbag cover
If youmodify thecoverofanairbag or affix
objectssuchasstickers to it, theairbag may
no longer function correctly.

Nevermodify thecover of an airbag and
do notaffix objectstoit.
An airbag's installation location is identified by
thelabel AIRBAG (/ page32).

WARNING Risk of injury or deathdue to
theuse of unsuitable seat covers
Unsuitable seat covers can obstruct or pre‐
vent thedeployment of theairbags integrated
intothe seats.
Consequently, theairbags cannot protect
vehicle occupants as they aredesigned to do.

Onlyuse seat covers that have been
approvedfor your vehicle by thesales
organization namedonthe inside front
cover.

WARNING Risk of injury due to malfunc‐
tions of thesensorsinthe door paneling
Sensorstocontrol theairbags arelocated in
thedoors. Modificationsorworknot per‐
formed correctlytothe doorsordoor panel‐
ing, as well as damaged doors, can lead to
thefunction of thesensorsbeing impaired.
The airbags might thereforenot function
properly anymore.
Consequently,the airbags cannotprotect
vehicle occupants as they aredesigned to do.

Nevermodify thedoorsorparts of the
doors.
#
Alwayshave work on thedoorsordoor
paneling carried out at aqualified spe‐
cialistworkshop.

WARNING Risk of injury due to deployed
airbag
Adeployedairbag no longer has aprotective
function and cannot protect as intended in
theevent of an accident.
#
Have thevehicle towedtoaqualified
specialistworkshop in order to have the
deployedairbag replaced.
Have deployedairbags replaced immediately.
Safelytransporting children in thevehicle
Alwaysobserve when children aretraveling in
thevehicle

Alwaysobserve thesafetynotes relevant to
thesituation.Indoing so, youwill be able to
identify possible risksand avoid dangers
when children aretraveling in thevehicle
(/ page34).
