Triggering an automatic emergency call
Requirements:
R
The ignition is switched on.
R
The starterbatteryhas sufficient charge.
If restraint systems suchasairbags or Emergency
Tensioning Deviceshave been activated afteran
accident, eCall mayautomatically initiate an
emergency call.
The emergency call has been made:
R
Avoice connection is made to theFreightliner
Sprinter emergency callcenter.
R
Amessage withaccidentdata is transmitted
to theFreightliner Sprinter emergency call
center.
The Freightliner Sprinter emergency callcen‐
tercan transmit thevehicle position datato
one of theemergency callcenters.
The SOS button in theoverhead controlpanel
flashes until theemergency callisfinished.
It is notpossible to immediatelyend an auto‐
matic emergency call.
If no connection can be madetothe emergency
services either,acorresponding message
appears in themedia display.
If no connection can be made to theemergency
services:

Dialthe local emergency numberonyour
mobile phone.
If an emergency callhas been initiated:

Remain in thevehicle if theroad and traffic
conditions permit youtodosountil avoice
connection is established withthe emergency
call centerservice provider.
R
Based on thecall, theoperator decides
whether it is necessarytocallrescue teams
and/or thepolice to theaccident site.
R
If no vehicle occupant answers, an ambu‐
lance is sent to thevehicle immediately.
Triggering amanual emergency call
#
Using theSOS buttoninthe overhead con‐
trol panel: press theSOS button at leastone
secondlong.
The emergency callhas been made:

Avoice connection is made to theFreightliner
Sprinter emergency callcenter.

Whether theemergency callwas initiated
manually or automatically
