Porttriggeringcanbede scribedasdynamicportforwarding.Bysettingporttriggeringrules,
inboundtrafficarrives at aspecificnetworkhostusingportsthatar e differen tthanthose
usedforoutboundtraffic.Theoutboundtraffictriggerstheportswheretheinboundtraffic
isdire cted.
Forexample,agamingserveris
access edusingUD Pprotocolonport 2222.Thegaming
serverthenrespondsbyconnectingthe userusingUDP onport 3333,whenagaming
sessionisini tiated.
Inth iscase,porttriggerin gmustbeusedsinceitconflictswiththefollowing defaultfirewall
settings:
• Firewallblocksinb oundtrafficby
default.
• Serverre plies toyo ur GatewayIP,andtheconn e ctio n isnotsentbacktothehost
sinceitis notpartofasession .
